About the Milner Revitalization

Change is on the horizon, as the Stanley A Milner Library closed for renovations on December 31, 2016. As we settle in at our temporary home at Enterprise Square, our new renderings and floor plans of a revitalized Stanley A. Milner Library show how the project will help shape the downtown core and better facilitate the needs of our community!

Stanley A. Milner Library Revitalization Timeline

Project History

In the fall of 2014, City Council approved $62.5 million (raised to $69 million in early 2017) for the revitalization and renewal of the Stanley A. Milner Library, with $59 million committed from the City of Edmonton and the expectation that $10 million come through community support and fundraising.

Opened in 1967 - and renamed in 1996 in honour of library champion Stanley A. Milner for his lifetime of commitment to EPL - this branch is the heart of EPL and downtown. The Milner Library receives over 1.2 million visits each year from Edmontonians of all backgrounds and with a variety of interests. The revitalized Stanley A. Milner Library will help build a thriving, vibrant downtown, and serve as a key component in Edmonton's economic prosperity.
