Check out our 2,100 square feet of space, its features, equipment, services in-person or sign up for interactive online entry-level classes to learn from home.

Are you ready to learn, create and explore through cooking and baking? With a hybrid of commercial and home kitchen equipment, The Kitchen is perfect for all your cooking needs. With commercial grade ovens, state of the art ventilation systems to keep you safe, and traditional at-home appliances like stand mixers, you’ll have the chance to experience it all!

Workstations

Our workstations are equipped with many gadgets, such as commercial ovens and induction cook tops to accommodate up to 36 participants and a spacious scullery for cleaning with open shelving for storing materials. 

 

Community Partnerships

Community groups, partners and other external groups will be able to rent The Kitchen for their own use based on availability. More details will be available at a later time.

EPL Kitchen Coordinator

Our Kitchen Coordinator Zofia Trebaczkiewicz will run and organize some virtual and in-person classes (when available).

Zofia is a chef with over 20 years of restaurant and catering experience. She has owned and operated several restaurants in Edmonton (Café Mosaics, Two Rooms Café, Flavours Modern Bistro). She has worked most recently as a Library Assistant at EPL and continued to be involved in the hospitality industry with small and large consulting projects, like the Prairie Bistro and Bakery, and Centre Polonia Restaurant Concept.

You also will get to experiment with flavours and cuisines that you might be hesitant to try on your own. With our expert guest chefs, EPL Kitchen Coordinator, and other trained staff, you’ll have the chance to do just that!

  • The Kitchen is located on the south east corner of the second floor of the Stanley A. Milner Library, and is only accessible through the library entrances. The Kitchen’s windows overlook Centennial Plaza and the Citadel Theatre.

  • Our goal is to create learning opportunities to help increase knowledge and grow interest in food literacy and nutrition, and to teach skills that would be transferable into a home kitchen environment. A variety of cooking, baking and food related courses at entry and intermediate levels will be offered in The Kitchen (either directly through the Library or through partner organizations). 

  • The Kitchen hosts a variety of activities including basic and intermediate classes, meal preparation workshops, nutrition workshops, knife skills classes, and a variety of demonstrations. Learn more about Kitchen classes and events.
