Writer In Residence FAQs

  • General Questions

Not at all. Published, not yet published or not interested in being published, it doesn't matter. All writers are welcome.

Within the bounds of writing and publishing we can talk about just about anything. Have you written a book and are unsure what to do next? Let's talk about it. Working on a short story and you've written yourself into a corner you don't know how to get out of? Maybe I can help! The cadence is off on your latest poem, and you want some fresh eyes on it? I'm happy to take a look. Or, if you just have questions about the industry that you'd like answered, I can do that too.

Of course! I will provide feedback on up to 3,000 words of your prose or 3 poems per appointment. After you have booked an appointment with me, please send your writing as a Word-compatible email attachment to rhonda.parrish@epl.ca

I take meetings by appointment only. I am open to virtual appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and in-person appointments in the Writer in Residence office in the Stanley A. Milner library at least one Thursday a month. You can check my availability and book and appointment here.

If you mean, can I provide you information about best practices and following guidelines or read your work/query letter/synopsis/whatever and provide feedback, then yes. If you mean, can I introduce you to your dream editor/agent/publisher, then no.
