Many of our volunteer roles require a long-term commitment. Volunteers stay in their roles for a long period of time. This results in low volunteer turn over and vacancies.

General Questions
EPL is lucky to get a lot of volunteer applications. Unfortunately, not all who apply can be placed in a role. Only applications that qualify for an interview will be contacted at the time of a vacancy.
All applications that have not been placed in volunteer roles are archived six months from their submission date and eventually deleted.
Please be as detailed and specific as you can as to why you’d like to volunteer, what you’ll get out of volunteering and the skills and experience you’ll bring to the role(s) you’re applying for.
EPL receives a high volume of applications. Submit an application that can speak in detail about your interest in volunteering at EPL.
It’s important to know why you personally want to volunteer. Know what kind of work you’re looking to do, what you wish to get out of the volunteer experience, how long you wish to commit to a volunteer role and how quickly you want to start volunteering.
Please read the volunteer position description you are looking to apply to carefully to ensure it matches what you’re interested in doing and that your availability aligns with time requirements.
Reading Buddies is the only volunteer program available at EPL for teens (ages 13-17).
The Reading Buddies program is available at the following branches:
- Calder
- Castle Downs
