While EPL core operations are funded through the City of Edmonton, some emerging programs and initiatives are funded through donations. EPL’s donors' generosity has helped support past projects such as the Welcome Baby program, epl2go literacy vans, and the revitalization of the Stanley A. Milner Library.
EPL is a responsible and accountable steward of public funds. With your donation, we hope to raise $1,242,000 by the end of 2025 with fundraising costs of 30%.
Donations from this year’s campaigns will be used to support EPL’s priority projects which will provide learning and literacy resources to help meet our community’s growing and diverse needs. The Edmonton Public Library is incorporated in Edmonton, Alberta and our central branch is located at 7 Sir Winston Churchill Square, Edmonton AB T5J 2V4. Charging a fee for access is against the basic principles and philosophy of a public library – free and open access to information, ideas, and resources for all people. By removing late fees EPL customers can now enjoy access to our collection’s barrier-free.
Cook up a Story Summer Camp is EPL's free summer camp for children aged 9-12 from socially vulnerable families, designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love for literacy. The camp provides opportunities to explore the world of storytelling—whether through cooking, writing, or digital media—while promoting healthy eating and teamwork. Children from low-income families can attend at no cost, ensuring access to enriching summer experiences that can shape their futures.
Each week during July and August, we welcome 25 campers aged 9-12 for a full-day camp experience, running Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm. The camp combines literacy, creativity, and hands-on activities like cooking, storytelling, digital literacy, crafting, and gaming. Nutritious lunches and snacks are provided daily to fuel campers as they explore, learn, and create. Campers enjoy a new discovery each day, fostering a love of learning through play.
