After four years, the Edmonton Public Library (EPL) is excited to announce the triumphant return of its most celebrated fundraising event, the EPL Gala, on October 20. Proudly presented by EPCOR, this year's Gala promises an enchanting evening of joy, laughter, and meaningful connections.
"We are thrilled to welcome back the EPL Gala!” said Pilar Martinez, EPL CEO. “This event will showcase the power of storytelling and the value of early literacy."
A highlight of the evening will be the Gala’s keynote, acclaimed actor, comedian and author, Rainn Wilson. Wilson has enthralled audiences with his diverse roles in both comedic and theatrical productions. His iconic performance as "Dwight Schrute" in NBC's Emmy Award-winning comedy, The Office, earned him a place in pop culture history.
Beyond his on-screen accomplishments, Rainn Wilson is also the visionary behind SoulPancake, a transformative project that unites visual storytelling with open-hearted dialogue about the essence of being human. As a platform that delves into topics of connection, hope, truth, identity, and purpose, SoulPancake boasts more than 2.6 million subscribers on YouTube alone.
EPL's Gala is a highlight of the city's social calendar and this year's edition is no exception. Attendees will enjoy entertaining fundraising games and activities, indulgent food and beverages that tickle the taste buds, and an enticing silent auction.
Supporting Early Literacy with Ready. Set. READ!
In line with EPL's mission to foster lifelong learning and literacy, the proceeds from this Gala will go to the Ready. Set. READ! program. This early literacy initiative provides books to children from birth to five years old, nurturing a strong foundation for learning that extends throughout their lives.
“Research shows us that children growing up in homes filled with books gain a remarkable advantage – each book added to their home library helps ensure they get a little farther in school.” said Elaine Jones, EPL’s Manager of Youth Services. “This is precisely why EPL has made an unwavering commitment to early literacy. We believe in empowering every child with the tools they need to read from the very beginning, setting them on a path to lifelong learning and success.”
Funds raised at the EPL Gala will ensure that more children have access to the transformative power of literature during their crucial developmental years.
Join us for an unforgettable night filled with delectable dining, captivating stories, and the chance to make a difference in the lives of Edmonton's children. Secure your tickets and save the date for a Gala experience like no other.
