Information for Creators

The Edmonton Public Library (EPL) collects material in a wide range of formats, representing a wide range of creators. Each title is evaluated on an individual basis to ensure it meets our general selection guidelines and is an appropriate format for library circulation. See the EPL Board Collection Development Policy for further details. EPL does not produce, publish, or print material for inclusion in our collections.

If you have a title that you would like considered for EPL's collections, please provide as much of the following information as possible:

  • Your name and contact information (please include your email address)
  • Author or creator's name
  • Title of the item
  • Producer or publisher of the work
  • Contact information for the publisher OR supplier
  • Any related order numbers such as ISBN, UPC, stock number, etc.
  • Date of publication
  • Price
  • Subject matter and intended audience
  • Any published reviews

These details as well as any additional relevant information should be sent to:

Due to the volume and variety of requests, EPL is unable to reply to each request individually.  You may be contacted if additional information is required, or a vendor representing EPL may contact you for supplier information if your title is added to our collection.

You may include a review copy of the material with this information; however, it will NOT be returned to you and may be dealt with in accordance with the Library’s policy on gifts (see below). Library staff do not evaluate material for use or recommendation outside of the library.

eBooks

Unfortunately, EPL cannot provide access to eBooks that are not available through our eBook vendors.

Local Interest titles

While EPL includes content specific to Edmonton and area as well as material created by local artists, all material is evaluated on an individual basis. If you currently reside in the Greater Edmonton Area, a Treaty 6 First Nation within Alberta’s provincial boundaries, or a Metis Settlement within Alberta’s provincial boundaries you may be interested in submitting your print works for consideration for the Capital City Press Collection housed at the Stanley A. Milner Library.

Gifts

The Library accepts gifts of books and other library materials but reserves the right to evaluate and to dispose of them in accordance with the criteria applied to material selected for purchase by the Library. Gifts of books or other material will be sold at EPL’s Books2Buy fundraiser book sales.  No conditions may be imposed on any materials after they are donated to the Library. Here is additional information on donating to EPL.
