Great libraries shape great cities. Public libraries, including EPL, provide essential services in the communities they serve. Many families face barriers that impact their ability to fully use everything the library makes available, such as books and other resources.
Support families in building strong foundations of literacy and learning to deepen their relationship with reading and the Library. Donate now.
Can you imagine a house without books? For many children in Edmonton this is their reality.
Ready. Set. READ! is a new EPL early literacy initiative in partnership with Dolly Parton's Imagination Library. It will deliver new books to children every month from birth to age five. These books are theirs to keep forever — for many children, this will be the first book they have ever owned.
Our goal: The more support this program receives the more children we can reach. A gift of $70 allows a child to sign up to the program for one full year!
Support EPL's Ready. Set. READ! program, your gift will help provide new books to children and inspire a lifetime of reading.
A child’s love of reading starts at home. Parents are their children’s first teacher. Research shows programs that place books in children’s homes are an effective tool in supporting early literacy.
The first five years of a child's life form the foundation for their development and learning, which impacts a child’s academic, economic and social success. Every experience matters, shaping their brain and capacity and attitude toward learning.
The Edmonton Public Library is happy to accept donations of books and other library materials. Although we are unable to add donated material to our collection, the funds generated from the sale of these materials at our Book Sales are used to enhance EPL collections and services.

Where to Donate
Most branches of the Edmonton Public Library can accept donations of books and library materials, with the exception of our eplGO locations: Heritage Valley, McConachie and West Henday Promenade.
If you have a large amount to donate, we recommend calling ahead to ensure that the branch you'd like to donate at has space for new material. Larger donations must be made in our designated, standard size, packing boxes. Visit your local branch to collect the number of boxes needed for your donation, then return them back to the branch when filled. We also ask that you ensure that the boxes are closed flat and taped once they are filled.
EPL is unable to do home pick ups of materials. Charitable tax receipts will not be issued for donated library materials.
Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions about donating materials to EPL.
