EDMONTON, AB – Edmonton Public Library (EPL) is pleased to welcome Canada Place Child Care Society as it relocates from Canada Place to Stanley A. Milner Library this fall.
This partnership builds on more than a decade of planning, consultation and shared commitment to supporting children and families in Edmonton’s downtown. Canada Place Child Care Society first approached EPL in 2015 about the possibility of including a child care centre in the revitalized Milner Library. Community consultation showed strong support for the idea, and EPL recognized the opportunity to meet an important community need.
EPL is proud to lease space to Canada Place Child Care Society, a respected and sought-after child care provider with a two-year waitlist for new families and a strong reputation for unique, high-quality programming.
“Supporting children and their families is central to EPL’s work, so welcoming a child care provider into the Stanley A. Milner Library is a natural fit," said EPL's CEO Pilar Martinez. “We’re thrilled to provide a new home for Canada Place Child Care Society and to create more opportunities for children and families to benefit from the Library’s spaces, services and resources.”
Canada Place Child Care Society plans to complete the relocation in October 2026 and will operate out of a 596-square-metre space on the third floor of Stanley A. Milner Library. They will have a full-sized kitchen, a gym area to host activities such as yoga and music classes, and a secure outdoor play yard. As a nod to their new home, Canada Place Child Care Society will change their name to Early Chapters Child Care Society when it relocates to Milner later this fall.
