Edmonton Public Library to Open More Services

New phase in reopening plan means more in-person access to library services

For immediate release:

EDMONTON, AB, Tuesday, August 4, 2020 — The Edmonton Public Library (EPL) is advancing to Phase 3 in our reopening plan which includes more access to in-person library services such as computers, printing and photocopying, and more.

“We have been carefully monitoring our progress over the past few months and have received positive feedback,” said Pilar Martinez, CEO of EPL. “After successfully completing our first two phases, we now feel confident in moving to the next phase of our reopening plan”.

Phase 3 starting today in EPL’s reopening plan includes:

  • Expanded customer capacity limits
  • Access to more items in the collection and ability to browse shelves
  • Technology access (computers, printing, photocopying, faxing and scanning)
  • Expanded hours of service
  • Limited access to study rooms and seating
  • Open public washrooms

EPL remains committed to meeting customer needs where possible while following the public health restrictions in place. The City of Edmonton recently mandated wearing face coverings in public spaces starting Saturday, Aug. 1. Guidelines set by the City of Edmonton and Alberta Health will continue to be followed at all Library locations, including wearing a face covering and adhering to physical distancing protocols. 

Throughout our closure and all phases of our reopening, customers with computer access will continue to have free and unlimited use of EPL’s digital resources through EPL from Home and can chat live with staff online at epl.ca/ContactEPL or over the phone at 780-496-7000.
