Volunteer Interpreter
The Edmonton Public Library's Computer Skills Program helps newcomers develop their technology/digital literacy skills. Volunteer interpreters assist in providing translation to participants to enhance their learning and understanding of the program.
Languages we are recruiting for can vary from branch to branch. Please read below for more information.
EPL is currently looking for one (1) adult volunteer to assist in providing translation to participants of the upcoming English Language Learner’s Computer Program which helps newcomers develop their technology/digital literacy skills. Here are the details:
Mill Woods Branch- 2610 Hewes Way Edmonton
- Dates: Sunday Jan 11th, 18th, and 25th (flexibility on date/times as long as within branch hours)
- Times: 10:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
- Language requirement: Fluent in Somali and English
Required
- Fluent in both oral and written English and in the following language: Tigrinya.
- Knowledgeable in basic computer applications.
- Effective communications skills.
- Ability to demonstrate patience when working with participants.
- Ability to work effectively, independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Clear up-to-date Police Information Check
Preferred
- Experience working with diverse populations.
- Teaching in a group setting.
