Edmonton, AB – February 19, 2026 – Edmonton Public Library (EPL) is celebrating the grand opening of the expanded Heritage Valley Branch, providing the community with a modern, welcoming space nearly three times larger than its previous location. At approximately 10,000 square feet, the branch is designed to meet the needs of one of Edmonton’s fastest-growing neighbourhoods with more room to read, create, connect, and explore.
Since opening in 2018, Heritage Valley has consistently been one of EPL’s busiest branches, often matching or exceeding activity levels at much larger locations. Programs regularly filled within minutes, and demand for space continued to grow. With City Council–approved funding and community-informed design, EPL expanded the branch to better meet the needs of this high-use location.
A New Chapter for Heritage Valley
The expanded Heritage Valley Branch reflects what customers asked for most—more space, more programs, and improved access to resources. New and enhanced features include:
- Interactive Digital Wall: An immersive learning experience inspired by The Wall at Stanley A. Milner Library
- Makerspace: A creative hub for designing, building, and innovating
- Dedicated Program Room: Space for Storytime, workshops, and community programs
- Expanded Study Areas: Comfortable seating and quiet spaces for reading and focus
- Larger Collection: More books, movies, and resources
- Additional Public Computers: Improved access to technology and the internet
“The Heritage Valley community has shown incredible enthusiasm for the Library since day one,” said Margaret Walsh, Branch Manager. “This expanded branch allows us to better meet customer demand and continue supporting learning, creativity, and connection in the community.”
