Capital City Press Collection Submission Form

Capital City Press would like submissions for books in print format for audiences of all ages, to be considered for EPL’s Capital City Press Collection in the Stanley A. Milner Library, provided they meet the following criteria:

The author resides in the Greater Edmonton Area; or is a member of the Treaty 6 First Nations within the provincial borders of Alberta; or the book is about the Greater Edmonton Area.
The book meets basic formatting requirements (see submission form).
The book was originally published in the past seven years, and is not already included in the Capital City Press Collection.
The book fits EPL’s Collection Development Policy.
The book does not contravene Canadian law.

The book has a unique ISBN.

Section 2: Submitting Your Work

Format Requirements*

Books must be bound as hardcover, library binding, trade paperback, or perfect binding. We do not accept books bound in the following ways: Punch- and-bind treatment (coil binding, spiral binding, comb binding); stapled pages; and 3-ring binding. Stapled chapbooks are an exception to the format requirements listed above.

ISBN Requirements:*

EPL requires all submitted titles to have an International Standard Book Number (ISBN). These are freely attainable through Library and Archives Canada’s ISBN Canada Program. Having an ISBN provides a unique identifier for your published work. As EPL’s bibliographic holdings are contributed to national and international catalogues, an ISBN will help other libraries that may be interested in purchasing or borrowing your work. An ISBN also makes works eligible for the Public Lending Right Program by Canada Council for the Arts. Self-published authors are also encouraged to submit their works to Library and Archives Canada through Legal Deposit, to help build the national collection.

Purchasing Print Titles*

EPL will only purchase titles for this collection from our authorized print vendor. EPL is unable to accept any donations for this Collection. EPL will not purchase any materials or titles left at an EPL location, or any material with an invoice from an author that we receive without a purchase order number authorized by EPL. Do not deliver materials to EPL yourself if you would like us to purchase them. Items that are damaged, lost or missing are not guaranteed to be replaced or reordered.
