Introducing Terrie Holgerson
Meet Terrie Holgerson, who is running to join our City Council in Ward papastew. We have asked all candidates to share their thoughts on the Edmonton Public Library through a short questionnaire. Here's what Terrie had to say.
Q&A with Terrie Holgerson
What is your favourite library memory or experience?
Bringing my children to pick out books and enjoy story time.
What is one book you think everyone should read and why?
"The Power Broker" by Robert A. Caro, because it is an in-depth treatise on how North American cities became expensive, hostile and dangerous. How the ideology of just one person can cost so many so much.
What vital role does EPL play in a thriving and vibrant Edmonton?
It should be a hub for learning, creativity, and community. It must be a repository of knowledge and wisdom.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you be and why?
I do not want to be a fictional character. There are so many real humans I would like to aspire to, individuals like Queen Elisabeth II, Coco Channel, Jane Jacobs, Jody Reybould, Jordan Peterson, and so many others concerned with the truth.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned at your local library?
How to make Tamari Balls.
If you could host a program at the library, what would it be about?
The history of textiles! The first technology, how it shaped cultures, sustained societies, developed world economics and was the original industry for women, and by women!
