Introducing Banisha Sandhu
Meet Banisha Sandhu, who is running to join our City Council in Ward Dene. We have asked all candidates to share their thoughts on the Edmonton Public Library through a short questionnaire. Here's what Banisha had to say.
Q&A with Banisha Sandhu
What is your favourite library memory or experience?
Reading the works of William Shakespeare.
What is one book you think everyone should read and why?
The collected works of William Shakespeare of course, I would however suggest the plays: Othello, Hamlet, Midsummer Nights Dream, and other of his works. Although I am not a fan of Romeo and Juliet.
What vital role does EPL play in a thriving and vibrant Edmonton?
Books and history are the foundation of learning, not to mention that modern libraries are providing things like internet access, community hubs, and makerspaces for people to access emerging technologies such as 3D Printers.
If you could be any fictional character, who would you be and why?
It depends on the day or mood I am in. However, I believe in living my life as a story interesting enough that someone could enjoy someday.
What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned at your local library?
That books, bound and paper, still have a very important place in our world.
If you could host a program at the library, what would it be about?
Probably about business and real estate.
