Get a Library Card - FOR FREE!

Getting your FREE library card is simple.

Visit any branch with a valid ID in hand (and proof of address) or sign up online and start experiencing some of the benefits of membership even sooner!

If you're under 18, bring your parent or guardian along to sign for you – they'll be legally responsible for what you borrow.

Cards are free to all Edmonton residents, including:

  • U of A students - free with a U of A L-Pass
  • MacEwan University students, staff and faculty - free with a MacEwan L-Pass (works best in Firefox)
  • Concordia University College students and faculty - free with a Concordia L-Pass (does not work in IE8 or earlier)
  • Norquest students - free with a Norquest L-Pass

Non-residents – $72 non-resident fee

You may also borrow at EPL with a Reciprocal, TAL or ME Libraries card.

Did you know that you can use your EPL card to borrow items from nearly all of Alberta's other public libraries? Simply register for FREE at today!

If you don't have a fixed address or haven't had a chance to get ID with your Edmonton address on it, you can still get your library card! Swing by a branch and you'll get a card that gives you access to our digital content and lets you borrow one item at a time. You can upgrade this card to give you full access at any time by confirming your Edmonton address.

Please note: Remote access to our eBooks and other digital content is NOT available to reciprocal, TAL, ME Libraries, corporate, visitor and non-resident cards.
