The party lasts all year long!
Some people call it a Centennial; we think of it as a year long celebration! There will be events in all our branches including birthday parties at all locations on March 13 and community BBQs in July. We're partnering with Movies on the Square to have a giant outdoor interactive movie in August and we're bringing back our outdoor Booksale and Library Festival EPL Squared. Last but not least we are bringing in some big names to help spread the words about why libraries will continue to rock.
This is party central for EPL's Centennial! Stay tuned for more events and more details!
Mary Walsh Live!
To help celebrate EPL's 100th birthday, Canadian actress Mary Wash is coming to Edmonton!
You can win a pair of tickets to attend "Mary Walsh Live!" on Tuesday, Nov. 19 at the Westin Edmonton.
This is an exclusive engagement open to EPL cardholders only, and the only way to see the former star of "This Hour Has 22 Minutes" is to win your way in! Enter by November 3rd at http://www.epl.ca/mary-walsh-live for a chance to win free tickets to this exclusive speaking engagement!
The Princess Bride - interactive and outside!
Inconceivable? Not at all! We've had so much fun revamping this movie classic that we simply must do it again.
Celebrate this beloved family film by joining us for EPL's audience-participation version. Declare your murderous intentions along with Inigo, show your love of Buttercup and your hatred of Prince Humperdinck, rhyme with Andre the Giant and more.
Better still, this year we are partnering with Movies on the Square to take our audience-participation spectacle outside to Churchill Square.
Enjoy this completely outrageous, totally Edmonton experience with 1000 like-minded citizens, on the big screen and under the stars.
Devoted fans are encouraged to dress as the character they love, or love to hate!
We have more planned to make this year's showing even bigger and better.
|Friday, August 2||Churchill Square||7:30 pm|
Bring your own chair!
And of course, admission is FREE.
Coming? Sign up on our Facebook event page. And remember to bring some props to help with the audience participation. You can get everything you need at the dollar store.

Don't be a lonely pirate!
A Secret Meeting with Lemony Snicket
To help celebrate EPL's 100th Birthday, "Afflicted Author" Lemony Snicket will be coming to Edmonton. Mr. Snicket rarely makes public appearances so this is a unique opportunity to hear the mysterious author speak. EPL cardholders entered to win a pair of tickets to "An Evening with Daniel Handler aka. Lemony Snicket" on Sunday, November 3rd at 7pm.
This is an exclusive engagement, open to Edmonton Public Library members only. The only way to get into the event is to win your way in. There was a draw held during the month of October where 280 library cardholders won a pair of tickets to the event.
Edmonton elementary school classes also won sets of 30 tickets for their class to attend a second event called "A Secret Meeting with Lemony Snicket" on Monday, November 4th.
Your library inside out - reloaded!
The Edmonton Public Library is taking over Churchill Square once again for our third annual EPL Squared outdoor library festival. There will be loads of activities and programs targeted to kids, families and adults all day including storytimes, live music, games, prizes, food and more.
And, of course, we'll have our ever-popular Books2Buy book sale where you can pick up some great books, CDs and DVDs all for a buck or two!
Come for the book sale, stay for the fun...it's a great day for all ages!
Whether you're old or young, a boy or a girl, EPL Squared will have something for everyone...we're the library, after all!
Summer is here (well hopefully soon). And so is another Centennial party!
EPL branches throughout the city are hosting community BBQs between July 9 and 20 because we want to celebrate our birthday with you!
Fat Franks will be on hand serving up beef and veggie hot dogs. Every library location has a variety of events planned such as music, games, story time, face painting and more.
Come enjoy food, friends and tons of fun.
