In this workshop, we will introduce you to tips and tricks to get your book looking as stylish as your prose. The content will focus on using Microsoft Word for layout and design, but many of the concepts can be used in a variety of other word processing programs. Indie Author Open Mic

Are you a local writer who has published your own book and looking to share your work with more readers? Sign up for Indie Author Open Mic hosted by EPL Writer in Residence David van Belle. You'll have 5 minutes to tell everyone about your work or read from your book. Writers are welcome to bring print copies to sell or promotional material as each Open Mic participant will be given some space on the community tables to promote themselves and their work. Maximizing Your Self Publishing Potential

In the ever changing world of publishing, more and more authors are choosing self publishing because of the freedom, the independence, and the higher margins that can come with it. In this workshop award winning writer Leif Gregersen will head up a panel discussing the advantages and disadvantages of DIY publishing. Topics will include everything from the writing process and seeking out an editor to choosing a printer and approaching bookstores. National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) is just around the corner! Join us for a webinar hosted by Municipal Liasons with NaNoWriMo to help you prepare. Space will be available after the webinar for you to connect with other writers or get started on a bit of prep work before November 1. Library staff will be on hand to help you sign up for NaNoWriMo, introduce you to library resources and answer your questions. Following the event there will be a Q&A with Municipal Liasons.
