We recently launched Phase 3 of our reopening plan. That means we've opened up more services for you, our dear customers. Before we all get too excited and run toward one another slow-mo style for a big, long-awaited hug, we have some house rules to share.
1. Mask Up
We love everyone's beautiful faces but when you're inside the Library, everyone must wear a mask. It shows that you care for others including our staff. Plus, it's been mandated by the City of Edmonton that everyone must wear a face covering in all indoor public places. We ask that you please put your mask on before entering one of our branches. And did you know there is a right and wrong way to put on a mask and wear a mask?
This is hilarious but keep your snacks at home and be like this good boy and wear your mask properly.
If you don't have a reusable cloth mask yet, follow these eight easy steps to make one for yourself.
2. Distance Makes the Heart Grow Fonder
We love and miss you all but the slow-mo hug I mentioned in the intro will have to wait. We encourage everyone to maintain your distance from others by following the directional signage and floor decals inside our branches. Also, if this sweet pup can follow the directional signage no one has an excuse.
3. Keep it Clean
I know you’re tired of hearing it but please keep washing and sanitizing your hands. I couldn’t find you a video of a dog washing his paws so instead I will leave you with one of many music videos created about hand washing. It's pretty darn catchy.
We ask that you sanitize your hands on the way into our branches. Also, use hand sanitizer before and after using any of our equipment including our computers, fax machine, scanner, printer and/or photocopier.
Make sure to pick and choose items from our shelves wisely. Every book you touch must be quarantined for 72 hours, even books you touch and you put back. So you better be committed to that YA fiction novel when you pick it up because it’s now yours to either check out or place in the book bin to be quarantined. We love our books but they get lonely in quarantine so choose wisely.
4. Plan Your Visit
If you’re planning to come to a branch and use one of our computers, make sure to book it in advance at mypc.epl.ca. That way you don’t have to wait for one.
5. Short and Sweet
Keep your visit short and sweet to help us serve as many customers as possible. We appreciate you stopping by to visit our branches but to keep the books flowing we need you to vamoose as soon as possible.
