Just because we aren't able to physically go out and enjoy the local Edmonton arts and events scene, doesn't mean they aren't still happening. To keep you and your family entertained while you're at home, we've compiled five (plus) digital events happening between June 1 and June 7, 2020.
1. The Award Goes to...
On Wednesday, June 3 at 7 p.m. NeWest Press will host Double Header: Alberta Literary Awards Finalists. Join nominees Peter Midgley, author of let us not think of them as barbarians, and Audrey J. Whitson, author of The Death of Annie the Water Witcher by Lightning, for a reading and Q&A session via Zoom. Register for your free ticket.
Follow that up by watching the 2020 Alberta Literary Awards Video Presentation starting at 8 p.m on Thursday, June 4. Join the Writers’ Guild of Alberta’s (WGA) Facebook Watch Party celebrating this year’s finalists and the announcement of the winners in all eight categories, as well as the Robert Kroetsch City of Edmonton Book Prize and Golden Pen Award. If you can’t catch the live Watch Party, the WGA will post the video on their YouTube channel.
2. Nutritious and Delicious
Run out of ideas in the kitchen? Let Blush Lane Organics inspire you with their first Cooking Class on Wednesday, June 3 starting at 7 p.m. Join nutritional consultant Heather Mowat to learn how to make healthy snacks from the comfort of your own home.
3. Hot Rides
Car shows and summer go hand in hand and Driven Edmonton is bringing the experience to you this year, physical distancing-style.
