Our network spans across Edmonton, so we need and appreciate help with all kinds of tasks. We need volunteers for everything from the simple and technical, to the public and behind the scenes.

Adult Opportunities 

Welcome Baby- Kit Preparer Volunteer (18+)

Stanley A. Milner Library- 7 Sir Winston Churchill Square, Edmonton

EPL is looking for 3 (three) Welcome Baby Kit Preparer Volunteers to volunteer at the Stanley A. Milner library downtown. We are currently seeking 1 volunteer for Tuesdays & 2 volunteers for Wednesdays. Welcome Baby Kit Preparers must be 18 years & older and must be physically able to lift up to 25lbs. 

Here are the details:

  • Dates: Tuesday and Wednesday shifts available.  Possible weekend shift option in the future.
  • Start Date:  End of April-early May. Date details with be shared with accepted volunteers.
  • Times: 10:00 am-12:00 pm, 2-hour shifts
  • Time Commitment:  minimum of one shift per week or every two weeks.
  • Mandatory Orientation/Training to take place on first scheduled shift.
  • Commitment: minimum of one-year, on-going position (no end date).

Forms Completion Volunteer (18+)

EPL is currently looking for one (1) adult volunteer to support library customers who have challenges with digital literacy and/or English language skills to review and complete a variety of online or paper government forms. Here are the details:

Mill Woods Branch- 2610 Hewes Way Edmonton

  • Dates: Every Monday (starting April 2024)
  • Times: 12:30pm-2:30pm
  • Commitment: 9-month minimum volunteer commitment (April-December)
  • Language Requirements: Hindi, Urdu and/or Punjabi

Community Experts (16+)

EPL is currently looking for Community Experts, 16 years of age & older, who would like to host workshops for adults on the following subjects:

  • Urban farming (Bee-keeping, vegetable/herb growing, backyard chickens, eco-living, etc.)
  • Urban living (Bike maintenance, rainwater collection & uses, canning/preserves, etc)
  • Tech expertise (Music recording, 3D modelling and animation, digital arts, etc)

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with the Edmonton Public Library. Please be advised that our Teen Volunteer Opportunities are not currently accepting applications at this time. We hope you will visit our website once again in the future.
