Volunteering at EPL is a life-enriching, rewarding experience, because supporting EPL supports the community we all share.

Our network spans across Edmonton, so we need and appreciate help with all kinds of tasks. We need volunteers for everything from the simple and technical, to the public and behind the scenes.

Adult Opportunities 

Interpreter Volunteer (18+)

EPL is currently looking for one (1) adult volunteer to assist in providing translation to participants of the upcoming English Language Learner’s Computer Program which helps newcomers develop their technology/digital literacy skills. Here are the details:

Woodcroft Branch- 13420 114 Ave NW, Edmonton

  • Dates: Wednesdays from June 12, 2024 to July 31, 2024
  • Times: 6pm-9pm
  • Mandatory Orientation/Training to take place on May 13, 2024 from 6:30pm-8:30pm
  • Language requirement: Amharic or Tingrinya

Forms Completion Volunteer (18+)

EPL is currently looking for one (1) adult volunteer to support library customers who have challenges with digital literacy and/or English language skills to review and complete a variety of online or paper government forms. Here are the details:

Stanley A. Milner Library- 7 Sir Winston Churchill Square Centennial Plaza Edmonton

  • Dates: Every Thursday (starting April 2024)
  • Times: 2pm-4pm
  • Commitment: 9-month minimum volunteer commitment (April-December)
  • Mandatory Orientation to take place prior to the first volunteer shift.

Community Experts (16+)

EPL is currently looking for Community Experts, 16 years of age & older, who would like to host workshops for adults on the following subjects:

  • Urban farming (Bee-keeping, vegetable/herb growing, backyard chickens, eco-living, etc.)
  • Urban living (Bike maintenance, rainwater collection & uses, canning/preserves, etc)
  • Tech expertise (Music recording, 3D modelling and animation, digital arts, etc)

Teen Opportunities (13-17 years)

Les Copains de Lecture- Succursale Idylwylde- 8310 88 Avenue

EPL is currently looking for 10 French-speaking teens (between the ages of 13-17) to assist with their upcoming Copains de Lecture Program. Here are the details:

  • Les jeudis du 11 avril au 9 mai 2024 de 16h30 à 17h30.
  • La session d'orientation obligatoire est le jeudi le 4 avril 2024 de 16h30 à 17h30.
  • Opportunité pour les ados de 13 à 17 ans qui lisent/parlent en français.
