Edmonton Public Library launches new, social-networking inspired catalogue
The new catalogue is here! - lots of optional fun or just use it to search!
Have questions about how to
use the new catalogue?
- Relevancy: Search results are now sorted by relevance. Many limits available, if you need them. TIP: start with basic search
- Create your own user name: Tired of typing 14 digits? Create a shorter, memorable, anonymous users name. TIP: you can make your barcode your username if you love those 14 digits.
- Social networking: User commentary is key. Share your opinions and thoughts with other users. Find and follow users with similar interest and tastes. Post additional information and links to help continually add to the rich content available in the catalogue.
- Explore with ease: Not sure what you're looking for? Peruse bestsellers, new additions to the collection, award winners or materials that are generating a lot of interest.
- Virtual browsing: Now, you can view the catalogue as though you were standing in the stacks looking at the shelves. With virtual browsing, you are not limited to just what is shelved at your local branch – view the library shelf based on the contents of all EPL locations.
- Create Lists: Keep track of things you want to read, listen to and watch, now and later. Share your information or keep it to yourself. Follow other users based on their interests and commentary.
- Activity history: Keep track of all your tags, comments, lists etc. with a single location for activity tracking that is both searchable and sortable. Trying to remember that great book, movie or CD you took out a month ago? Now access your recently returned items for up to three months.
