He is also a singer, taditional dancer and Drum Keeper. Adrian had this to say about how he chose the name for his 2008 CD Songs from My Heart: How I came up with the name was to honor all the people who have inspired me to do the things that I do. Singing and dancing has always been a way to honor people, so that's how that came to be. It gives my heart much joy to honor & remember the ones that have supported me on my journey. Visit Adrian on the web and check out his CD Songs from My Heart in the EPL catalogue. http://www.adrianlachance.com/ Comments (0) Alberta Pow Wow group gets Grammy nomination Feb 02, 2009 Posted by: CBateman Six members of the Alberta-based Round Dance and Pow Wow group Northern Cree will be flying down to Los Angeles this week with the hopes of picking up a Grammy Award. The group has been nominated in the Best Native American Music Album category for their album "Red Rock". Now 15 members strong, Northern Cree found its accidental beginnings in 1983 when founder Steve Wood visited a cultural ceremony in the US with his brothers and friends. "We were at this particular celebration for other reasons than to sing. Unexpectedly, we had no choice but to sing if we were going to attain enough funds to get home." Northern Cree are no strangers to the Grammy Award and Wood hopes that this (their 4th nomination) will be their lucky year: "[We are] hoping that [we win], but if not, we consider ourselves still fortunate to have our music recognized by the premiere awards show on the planet. Hey, and putting it into perspective, think of how many great musicians that were never recognized for their musical prowess by said music awards. (eg. Jimi Hendrix, Rod Stewart, etc.)" The Awards will be given out on February 8th. Checkout the Grammy nominated album "Red Rock" in the EPL catalogue and online!: http://www.northerncree.com/ Comments (0) | ||||
