...and we are bigger and better than ever!

After months of planning and construction we are now moved into our new location at 3410 - 118 Avenue.

The relocation and expansion provides EPL greater opportunity to serve our communities by allowing greater access, more space and increased visibility for the Library.

As an active community partner, we believe the move will also help in the revitalization of the area. At over 8,500 square feet, the new location is almost twice as big as the current branch.

  • increased reading areas for adults and teens

1. Why did we move out of Abbottsfield Mall?

The main reasons for moving to this new location were:

  • To meet customer demand for library programs and services. Growing demand for our programs and services required us to look for more space - our first choice was to stay in the mall, but space was not available to us based on the timelines we had.
  • To help revitalize the community by offering better street-front visibility for the library and better access for our customers.

The Abbottsfield - Penny McKee Branch serves a population of over 13,000 with 16 schools in the area. In 2009, total visits to the library exceeded 160,000 while circulation of materials increased 15.5% (versus 2008) to 171,201 items.
2. Where is the new Branch located?

The Abbottsfield - Penny McKee Branch has been an integral part of the community for 13 years and we wanted to stay nearby, so we are only a block away from our old location. The new address is 3410 - 118 Avenue.

We are open now! We officially opened to the public on August 23, 2010.
6. When will you begin offering programs again at the new branch?

We will be offering a full slate of programs for the whole family starting at the end of September 2010. Come in and ask us if you have any questions.
