The Information Services Division of the Edmonton Public Library receives numerous requests for information on municipal elections in Edmonton in general and for biographies of elected civic officials, past and present, in particular.

Finding such information is not always an easy task; it often involves a time-consuming search through local newspapers on microfilm and through publications without indexes. This report has been compiled to provide quick and accurate answers to most questions received by reference staff and also to serve as a convenient historical summary of information on Edmonton municipal elections.

The results were obtained chiefly from the Edmonton Bulletin and The Edmonton Journal. Biographical information was found in various sources which are listed with each biographical entry. Other publications that were helpful in the compilation of this report are listed in the Bibliography.
